Is there an option to setup the named fields titles in different languages. I went into the custom fields but could see no way to select the different languages that are available from the VM dropdown options. I have 4 languages setup in VM.

As can be seen in my example attached the buttons etc are all showing Spanish but the titles cannot be changed.

Modern Publication Title, Modern Publication Name etc.

You'll have to create a copy of the ReqText language file and add the language titles to all the lanuage files which are used by the ReqText plugin.
Here's what you can do:

  • Copy the en-GB.plg_vmcustom_reqtext.ini file in yoursite/administrator/language/en-GB folder to the language folder you need. In your case to the yoursite/administrator/language/es-ES folder and rename the file to es-ES.plg_vmcustom_reqtext.ini.
  • Now edit both files (the English and Spanish one) using any text editor and add lanuage strings like this: VMCUSTOM_REQTEXT_TITLE_LBL_1="your translation title"
  • No you can use the language strings as title descriptions in your custom fields title labels by typing VMCUSTOM_REQTEXT_TITLE_LBL_1 instead of the actual title you want to show.
  • You will have to do this for every language you're using on your website.

Down side of this is the following: if the ReqText plugin is update to a new/another version the English and Dutch lanuage files are overwritten. We are working on a solution for this in the upcoming version.

Bug? That's not a bug, that's a feature. :-)

Follow you 100% in how you can do this. I have however 5 languages, 5 headings for each of 6 products. 150 Phew. Think I will wait for the mod then at least the effort will be saved.

For someone simpler though it is a workable solution.

I am assuming that the mod will work within the VM product page as a flag appearing next to each custom text entry. Like it does for existing language options.

Just gets better and better REQTEXT

Thanks.

For now a secondary custom lanuage file will be used in the new version of the ReqText plugin.
Not sure what you mean by the flags you mentioned in your repsons. Any screenshots of what you mean? ;-)

By the way.... thanks for the compliment!

Sorry - I've got it now. You mean the switching of languages like in VM 2/3 with the flags in front of the input fields.
My bad - didn't think hard enough :-)

It's a big thing to implement this in a custom field plugin because of the way the structure of the plugins are build... but nothing is impossible. I've putted on our requested features list!

The flags are the language selection method on the web site. see attached.

To edit the site in another language requires you to go to VM products and select the language you wish to edit. A small flag appears against any field that can be changed to another language. Edit and save. This field is then shown depending on what language flag the visitor is using.
